There was a young fellow from Trinity
Who took the square root of infinity
But the number of digits
Gave him the fidgets
He dropped Math and took up Divinity

Hey There,
I'm Jasmin.
Founder of FromOneTwoInfinity
a website about math.
You don't want to end up like that fellow, do you? Don't worry, I'm a qualified and dedicated tutor who specialises in Australian Year 7-12 Mathematics all the way from Standard to Extension 1, and offer private or group tuition (both online and in-person).
About Me
I didn't grow up liking maths or being good at it. In year 6, I was failing with scores under 50% and was assessed by a psychologist in Year 1 for mental impairment. I finished Year 12 with 99.05 ATAR, a 94 in Extension 1, 92 in Extension 2 Maths and a genuine enjoyment for reading maths (I'll admit, it's partially because I don't suck at it).
Did I have a high IQ? No, I'm not particularly fast at anything.
Did I attend three hardcore sets of six-to-eight hour tutoring centre sessions per week in those intervening years or in primary school? No. I started maths tutoring in Year 11 and 12 - nothing before that (I know people don't believe it, but it is true, you don't need to grind yourself down all the way since kindy).
Did I work hard? Yes, that's a given.
Did I learn ahead alone? Yes. But I remember how scraping through even basic derivatives lasted me an entire summer. There was so much to learn and I was too slow to get through it.
Did I have a good teacher? Yes! That was a game changer, personally. I was fortunate enough to learn from a mathematics postgrad who taught in the style of Polya. Those lessons completely changed my approach to learning and my vision of how maths is ideally taught.
How I Teach
I don't spit theory or facts at students. All I do is present a mathematical problem to students, and ask them questions about it. Guiding questions that suggest potential clues hidden within the problem, patterns or strategies in order to help them arrive at the answer. The aim of this is to produce a literal mathematical conversation similar in style to a page from The Republic.
Many of my students find that, throughout this style of teaching, the theory naturally unfolds itself step-by-step in a way that is both intuitive and engaging. What's really special is that this student-teacher dialogue forces the student to do 90% of the critical thinking.
This is the way a student gets 1) good at maths 2) more entertainment from it

Tuition types can be undertaken online or in-person unless due to being booked out.
-
For students who are average or are wanting (and able) to stay ahead of school, I recommend group. Group classes follow a NSW Syllabus.
-
For students who struggle, are under-average, or excel and want to be extended, I recommend one-on-one. One-on-one has a flexible syllabus and order of topics tailored to the student.
-
I don't charge based on student's school grade, I charge by the grade of content the student should learn currently.

Trial Lessons available.
